Meet the Founder
Sev Teymoorian
Welcome to Powerupdoc.com! My name is Savak Teymoorian, MD, MBA. My friends, however, call me “Sev” but most of you know me as Powerupdoc.
I was born in the Middle East and my family moved to the United States when I was very young. I grew up and went to high school in Glendale, California (Go Nitros!). At 12 years old, I became fascinated by the eye and all its details – what it was, when it develops, and how it works. I was so amazed by how people can be allowed to see better through surgery and glasses that I decided to become an ophthalmologist.
But life, and the journey I took to get here, is not like the weather in Hawaii – all sunshine and rainbows. I cannot recall all the challenges I faced in my path to success. This ranged from people not believing me toopportunities that just seemed closed shut with no possibility of them ever opening. I could have simply given up and let life dictate who I was going to become. Instead, I decided not to settle for that – not to accept mediocracy and just live one day after the other. The most important choice I made in my life was to view all challenges as stepping stones to greatness instead of obstacles that blocked my purpose.
Although we cannot control the hand that life deals us, we do control how we play that hand. Charles Swindoll says, “Life is 10% what happens to you and 90% how you react to it.”
I didn’t accept “no” in my journey. Where did that get me? I was the first in my family to complete college at UC Irvine (Rip’em Eaters!), attend medical school, pick up an MBA along with way, match into an ophthalmology residency in Kansas City (Go Chiefs!), and complete my glaucoma fellowship at Stanford. I’m now a partner at a large, reputable multi-specialty eye care practice (Harvard Eye Associates) with currently 17 doctors over 3 locations serving most of Orange County, California. My background also allows me to work with numerous private and public ophthalmic companies. This leads to actively participating in research projects that help bring new medication and novel surgical intervention that improve patients’ vision. I also have the privilege of being asked to speak at national and international conferences to share my experience with other doctors and individuals in the industry in addition to providing humanity work in various countries.
When I have a free moment, I reflect on my journey and wonder what would have happened if I just accepted the “no’s” in my life. I think about all the missed opportunities – not just for myself but also for everyone I have had the privilege to positively influence – if I had taken the easier path of least resistance. Therefore, Powerupdoc was created; because I don’t want you to miss out on all those opportunities you were destined for by not pursuing your life’s purpose for one reason or the other. You and the world would be so much better off by seeing your challenges as steppingstones and not obstacles. You can accomplish anything, and I want to lead you to that. It’s living the Powerupdoc Mentality – where impossible becomes possible. To truly reach mastery of this you must go from knowing, to doing, to living this lifestyle. That is what this content will provide you.

So why did I create this website? This website is the realization of a long-standing dream. I’ve been blessed with the opportunities I have been given but also worked hard to earn throughout my life. When I share my journey with others (which you read above), people find my pathway in life interesting and the lessons valuable. They frequently encourage me to pass along that insight to others so they can benefit as well. It’s incredible to see how others have found inspiration in my life process and the knowledge I have acquired – leading them to create the lives they’ve always wanted to live and achieve the goals they’ve desired to reach. Honestly, I’m always humbled by their reactions because I feel like I’m just following my purpose in life.
My hope is that the time you spend on this material will benefit you by adding unique value and allow you to reach your dreams. The measure of my success in this endeavor will be judged by my viewers’ ability to take the next steps in their lives and bring out the greatness, and leader, that live within them. In doing so, my belief is that they will want to share their experiences and knowledge with others as a way of paying forward. This behavior them exemplifies what Powerupdoc is all about – the application of teamwork so we can all be better as a group than we would have been by ourselves. I’m reminded of the famous saying “If you want to get somewhere fast, go alone; but if you truly want to go far, go as a team.” The joy and satisfaction that comes with helping others is incredible; and once you feel it for yourself, you will see just how contagious and rewarding it is.
This platform was developed to share content with you through various modalities. At first, viewers may give this content a superficial glance and think its just about business. A deeper look will reveal that the material and skills you learn will naturally also translate over to your personal life. The key is understanding the thought process and strategies which can be applied ubiquitously. For example, most people would associate the topic of negotiations to a business setting.
